We had a hydraulic loader on one of our trucks that kept leaking and causing downtime. Got fed up and decided to test an electric linear actuator for the lift. Was worried it wouldn’t handle the weight or last long, but it surprised me — the power’s solid and the maintenance is way less. It’s been almost a year now, and no oil mess or pressure issues. Definitely makes me rethink sticking with hydraulics for everything.

Sometimes the gear you think won’t last an hour ends up running nonstop for months, and the stuff you trust breaks down fast. There’s always a bit of luck mixed with how well you treat the equipment. Makes each day on the floor kind of unpredictable, in a way.
Around here, we moved a few conveyor lifts from hydraulics to electric actuators a while back. This is what I use Material Handling Actuators: https://progressiveautomations.com.au/pages/material-handling-loading. They’re built tough and designed for repeated cycles, which fits our busy schedule perfectly. The power isn’t crazy high like heavy hydraulics, but for most of our loading tasks, it’s more than enough and cleaner to operate.
