Pregnant and Legs Are Killing Me

I'm 7 months pregnant and my legs are so swollen and painful I can barely walk. Googled symptoms and found out what is chronic venous insufficiency might be the cause. Last week I tried compression socks and they helped a bit but I still have burning pain. My grandma had varicose veins after pregnancy and ended up with ulcers. I don't want that to happen. Is CVI common during pregnancy?

Pregnancy can definitely bring this on or make it worse - extra blood volume + pressure on pelvic veins slows things down, so legs get heavy, swollen, even burning. I saw it with my sister during her third trimester; she thought it was just “normal swelling,” but her doctor said it was early venous insufficiency symptoms. It improved a lot after delivery, but she still needed follow-up. This explains it pretty clearly: chronic venous insufficiency causes and risk factors  covers why it happens in pregnancy and what to watch for. Compression helps, but don’t hesitate to mention the pain to your doctor.
