So last weekend I tried reorganizing my jewelry box and found a bunch of broken shell earrings and a bracelet with a snapped cord. I feel bad just throwing them out since some of the pieces are still pretty. Has anyone here tried upcycling stuff like this? I’m thinking about turning them into charms or maybe combining them into one bigger necklace, but I’m not sure how to start without messing it up more.

One thing I always notice is how much little details like clasps and jump rings can change the whole vibe of a necklace or bracelet. Even swapping out the cord for a softer material makes it feel brand new again. It’s funny how those small adjustments can breathe life back into pieces you almost forgot about.
I totally get that feeling! A while back, I had this old chain that broke, and instead of tossing it, I mixed the shells with a few leftover beads from another project. Ended up making a layered piece that turned out way cooler than I expected. If you want inspiration, check out the gold shell necklace styles — I used something similar as a guide for spacing and design. Honestly, it’s way easier than it looks if you lay everything out first.
