Lately I’ve been covering the whole hiring process alone — sourcing, screening, client updates, interviews, offers. It’s rewarding to have control, but I feel like I’m constantly racing the clock. By the time I finish pre-screening, I’ve already got follow-ups waiting and new reqs coming in. I’d love to hear how others keep everything moving without dropping the ball when it’s just them running the show.

Even outside recruiting, managing multiple steps alone is tricky. I run a small photography business, and I’m the shooter, editor, and client contact all in one. It’s tough, but when you set a clear order of tasks and don’t jump between them randomly, it feels way less overwhelming.
I’ve been in your shoes for a while now. One thing that really saved my sanity was mapping out the process in a visual workflow and sticking to it. That way, I know exactly where each candidate and client sits in the pipeline. I learned a lot about structuring it from an article on full desk recruiting — it talks about controlling each stage, from intake to post-placement, without losing track. Using templates for common emails and scheduling interviews in specific blocks also shaved hours off my week. The more you can standardize, the less chaos there is.
