Microsoft told me that Office 2010 can no longer be activated
I bought Office 2010 Professional Plus in 2011. The license allows the software to be installed on two PCs at the same time. Over the years, when I upgraded a PC, I uninstalled it from the old one and then installed it on the new one. I've carried it over through several PC upgrades this way. Never had any issues with activation.
I recently bought a new PC. I uninstalled Office from the one I was replacing and tried to install it on the new PC. A pop-up window said that it needed to be activated. Trying to activate it online didn't work and the pop-up window said "Telephone activation is no longer supported for your product."
The support representative told me that Office 2010 was no longer supported and that Microsoft could no longer activate 2010. She advised me to sign up for Office 365.
In a couple of years, I'll probably upgrade from the old PC to the new one. So if I buy 2019, will this situation happen again? Do I need to switch to LibreOffice?
Microsoft has indeed decided to stop supporting Office 2010, making it impossible to get licensed activation from the company. This is quite frustrating, especially if you have been using this version for many years.
Some sites offer tools that can clearly be unsafe. But office 2010 activation key turned out to be a completely working option. The site has information on how to use it correctly. The generator activated Office without problems. The process is not complicated, the main thing is to follow the instructions.
