Hi forum members 👋 Who has experience with transparent vinyl curtains for restaurants? We are thinking of hanging them on the summer veranda so that guests don't fly away with their chairs at the first gust of wind 😂. Please share: how much do they really save from rain and wind? Doesn't the veranda turn into an aquarium in the heat? And how do you attach them so they don't get ripped off by the first hurricane? Would love to hear your stories, tips and if you can, epic fails too 😅. Thanks!

Funny enough, the vinyl curtains weren’t the most significant headache — keeping track of schedules, seasonal changes, and little tasks was. We ended up trying a solution I came across here, and it was a game-changer. No more sticky notes or frantic group chats; everyone knows what’s happening, and it feels way less chaotic during busy weeks.
Yeah, we tried those vinyl curtains last year on our patio. They actually helped a lot with the wind — people weren’t chasing their napkins across the street anymore 😅. Rain protection is decent too, unless it’s a crazy storm, then you’ll still get a bit of spray sneaking in.
The downside is the heat. On sunny days it really can feel like you’re sitting in a giant plastic bag. We learned to keep a couple of sections rolled up so there’s always some airflow. That made a big difference.
As for mounting them: don’t go cheap. Our first attempt with basic hooks ended in disaster after the first big gust, and we had to fish a whole sheet out of the parking lot 🙈. Once we upgraded to proper tracks with solid fasteners, it’s been fine.
Honestly, they’re useful, but like everything in a restaurant, it’s less about the curtains themselves and more about how you plan and manage the setup over the season.
Hi. Let me give you some advice and recommend you to check out the EnclosureGuy catalog. They have a huge selection of outdoor clear vinyl curtains for restaurants on their website. Their roll-up curtains made of durable vinyl turned out to be surprisingly reliable - wind, rain, even light snow - they withstand everything. I like that they are transparent - guests still enjoy the view but, at the same time, sit in the warmth. If you have a cafe, this is a great investment that will quickly pay for itself.
We installed them last year in our cafe. On the whole, it was fine - they protect from the wind perfectly, from rain too. The main thing is to take high-quality, thicker ones. In summer in the heat really can be the effect of a greenhouse, so ventilation is mandatory. In terms of installation - fixing strips plus reinforced eyelets are very helpful.
