Custom Cabinets or Millwork for Home Renovation?
I'm planning a kitchen reno next year and trying to decide between standard cabinets from big box stores or going custom. Custom seems more expensive, but I've heard it can make a big difference in quality and fit. Has anyone here used a custom millwork company in the GTA? What was your experience like in terms of process, pricing, and final result?

Custom is definitely worth it if you want everything to fit perfectly and look unique — especially in older homes or if you have specific layouts. Standard ones are fine for basic needs, but they often feel generic. We went with Alliance Millwork a couple years back for our kitchen and closets. The whole process from design to install was smooth, they used good materials and hardware, and it came out exactly how we pictured it. Not the cheapest option, but solid value for the quality. If you're curious about real examples and what others have said, check this out: https://alliancemillwork.ca/ — they have some project photos and details on their site. Just my two cents, but I'd go custom again.
