You know, I never really thought about how often we should check in on the care my grandmother receives until we had a small issue a few weeks ago. She’s been with the same home care agency for over a year now, and while everything seemed fine on the surface, we recently noticed that some of her medications were being given a bit off-schedule. It turned out to be a simple communication error, but it made me realize we hadn't really done any kind of structured review in months. We just kind of trusted the system was working. I guess my question is: how often should we be evaluating the care she’s getting? Is there a better way to stay on top of it without overcomplicating things?

Thanks
I’m just passing by this thread but wanted to say I think it’s great that people are having these kinds of conversations. It’s so easy to forget how much coordination and thought goes into home care, and discussions like this are super useful—even for folks who aren’t dealing with it directly yet. Makes me think ahead for my own family down the line.
Totally get where you’re coming from. We went through something similar with my dad's caregiver. Things were mostly going smoothly, but over time we started to notice some inconsistencies—nothing major, but still enough to raise some concerns. What really helped us was setting a schedule to review everything every two months or so, and we also have quick weekly check-ins with the agency. It doesn’t have to be a big formal process, just something to stay in the loop. There’s a great breakdown on how to handle all this in How to Choose a Home Care Agency in PA. That page really helped us understand what we should be looking out for, especially as our dad’s needs change.
