Home Renovation in the Netherlands
Hi everyone, I'm planning to renovate my apartment next year – probably a full refresh including new flooring, painting, maybe some layout changes and updating the bathroom/kitchen. It's my first big project like this in NL, and I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the contractors out there. How did you choose yours? Any tips on what to look for to avoid headaches with permits or quality issues?

I've been through a couple of renovations here, and yeah, it can get complicated with the rules and finding reliable people. What helped me was going for a company that handles everything turnkey – from design to permits and the actual work – so you don't have to coordinate a bunch of separate trades. I ended up using CBS Renovation for my last project in the Utrecht area, and it went pretty smoothly; they know the local regs well and kept things on budget. You can check out more real experiences and details here https://cbsrenovation.nl/ if you're curious. Definitely get a few quotes and ask about timelines, but starting with someone experienced in full apartment/house renos makes a big difference.
