The "Humanizer" Up-sell Skepticism

Has anyone noticed that the free AI detector seems almost too sensitive? I feel like it flags human writing just to get you to click the 'Humanize' button, which then asks for a subscription. Is this a marketing trick?

It can feel that way, and you're not alone in noticing it. Free AI detectors — including the one you're talking about — tend to use broad pattern checks, so formal, polished, or technical writing can get flagged even if it was genuinely written by a person. That doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a deliberate marketing trick, but it’s true that many services use the free scan as a way to promote their paid features. The free version still has value for a quick sense-check, though. If you just want a no-cost scan without subscriptions, you can try the 100% free  tool and compare results across different parts of your text to see what feels most reliable.
