How to prove time spent on a project to a client?

The question is: how do you show a client how many hours it really took to complete their project? Recently, it has become more difficult to explain to clients why the cost of a job is what it is, especially when it is not always possible to clearly prove how much time was spent on each task. Often all the focus is on the end result and it feels like we're spending too much time. How can we convincingly demonstrate to the client the real time spent to avoid dissatisfaction and misunderstandings?

Yes, I think if the project is big and time-consuming, it is important to have clear data to explain to the client what they are paying for. For example, you could divide the project into smaller tasks and show how much time was spent on each one. This will help to visualize the work process. It is important for the client to see that the work is going according to plan and that time is being spent efficiently.
